Date Smarter: Learn How to Find Love Through Intentional Dating

Learn How to Find Love Through Intentional Dating

Dating can start to feel exhausting when it seems random, repetitive, or disconnected from what you actually want. Many people find themselves swiping, meeting up, and hoping for chemistry—without feeling any closer to a meaningful relationship. If that sounds familiar, it may be time to date smarter rather than date harder.

Dating smarter means approaching the process with intention. Instead of focusing solely on attraction or potential, intentional dating helps you clarify your values, boundaries, and the kind of relationship you want to build. When your goal is to find love, this shift allows you to evaluate compatibility more clearly and make choices that support long-term connection, not just short-term chemistry.

In the video below, I explain what it means to date with intention, how to move beyond dating burnout, and what to pay attention to early on when you’re looking for a healthy, sustainable relationship.

Are you feeling worn down by the dating process?

Maybe it feels like endless swiping, hoping it leads to an actual meetup. Then, when you do meet, you’re hoping for real connection—something that clicks. Dating can start to feel discouraging, exhausting, and random. But what if it didn’t have to feel that way? What if you could date smarter—with clarity and purpose—rather than relying on chance?

Dating intentionally means getting clear about your values, boundaries, and what you are truly looking for in a relationship. Instead of focusing on each individual date as a potential outcome, intentional dating shifts the focus to the kind of relationship you want to build. From there, you begin asking a different question: Does this person align with the relationship I want to create?

When you date smarter, you may find yourself reflecting on questions like:

  • Does this person align with my vision for a relationship?

  • Do we share core values?

  • Do they treat me with respect and care?

  • Are they interested in growth—both individually and together?

  • How do they navigate conflict?

  • Does my nervous system feel calm and at ease around them?

  • Do they bring joy and meaning into my life?

Chemistry often draws us to someone at the beginning. But when your goal is to find love, chemistry alone isn’t enough. Dating with intention means paying attention to the deeper, more sustaining qualities that support long-term connection.

This is the foundation of a workshop I’m offering called Lessons in Love. My name is Carolyn, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Over the years, I’ve worked with many couples in therapy, and I began to see how powerful it could be to support people before they enter a relationship—while they’re dating and making choices about who to invest in.

About The Dating Workshop

This workshop is designed for singles who want to date smarter by learning practical skills for building and sustaining healthy relationships from the very beginning. It incorporates research and tools developed by the Gottman Institute, based on over 40 years of studying what makes relationships succeed.

This is not therapy. It’s a structured, educational workshop—similar to a class—focused on relationships. Participation does not establish a therapeutic relationship. Instead, you’ll leave with concrete strategies, frameworks, and insights to help you date with intention and clarity as you work to find love.

The workshop includes guided live exercises in small groups, giving you space to practice and reflect so you feel more grounded and prepared heading into future dates.

Lessons in Love is an 8-hour course divided into four 2-hour sessions over four weeks. Sessions are held Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons (Central Time). Because it’s virtual and educational, participants can join from anywhere. Enrollment is limited to 16 people.

Love isn’t about luck. It’s about clarity, choice, and courage. If you’re ready to date smarter and approach dating with more intention, this workshop may be a meaningful next step.
